To answer my own question, I found a list of recent changes made to the PC version on the PC patch download page today. Here is the content:
GAMEPLAY
* Transparency of trees increased
* Statistics changed: Stats screen displays now all potential money instead of total country control
* Entire phase rewind function added (Alt + "Rewind" button)
* Bug fix: airplanes and carriers disappearing after "Undo"
2. REPLAYS
* Smart replay name generation implemented
3. MULTIPLAYER
* Ability to enforce the end of time-out game enabled (the victory is given to the last active player)
* "Online Status" feature added to "My Profile"
* Random side challenges enabled
* Special message with achievements is being shown once advanced to new rank/gaining score
* Now you can view the whole turn, during which the opponent has surrendered
* In-game messages are now an option after the game is finished
* Sending personal messages to any player added (available in "Personal Challenge")
* Improved challenge/game descriptions
* IDs of received/sent games being shown during connection to the game server.
* "Restore Profile" button now restores all games from Game server
* Hidden password option added
* Minor rules differences between this and older versions fixed
4. INTERFACE
* AI difficulty level selection is back for World War mode
5. MISC
* Support of all available resolutions, including wide screen resolutions added
* Option to switch background animation on/off from main menu added (see "Gameplay Settings")
Some other bugs and glitches has been fixed.

Wow...didn't know we Mac users were missing so much. More transparency in the forest...heh, good idea.
Potential money stats sound
much more helpful. Phase rewind...useful. Anyway, I assume VP has all this info so we should be seeing these items updated on the Mac side soon (they say they're testing the forthcoming patch right now).
