It might be a bit late in the day to make suggestions, but do you think 2 games in each of the next stages is enough?

It's not that unusual to get a bad start from allies being spead out, which is ok in the first round where you have lots of games and everyone is in the same boat (space ship?), but now it's just 2 games each. If you get a bad start it means your only oppenent gets a good start.

Happy to play as is, but I thought I'd raise it.

Doesn't take much longer to play 4 turns as opposed to 2 and it might even things out?

Hear hear! I think 4 games would be a better test of our mettle.

Absolutely.

The goal of any tournament should be to allow players to show their skill by rising to the top. By definition, tournaments consist of multiple conflicts, and as any statistician will tell you, a small sampling is worse than meaningless, for it is misleading. Therefore, more games are not only desirable, they are necessary to achieve the goal of the tournament.

My thoughts on the topic,
Brashen

I am winning my last game comfortably (190% with about three times the troops), unfortunately I need either two or three turns to get to 300% and sgtshaggy has not moved for over 4 days :(

I think under the rule 17.2, I will finish ahead of Arkangel since I destroyed a lot more pieces in the head to head games.

I agree with MortonHQ and Maelstrom, four games would be a fairer indication but I would hate to play all four games on the same map. Two on Anubis and two on Noble Rust would be great for each of the next two rounds.

I think it may be better for the community that we get this tournament done ASAP and move onto the next - perhaps it is better that we leave it as it is for now? It feels as though the tournament has been going on for ages already and we have potentially three more rounds to play!

I agree with this too, but the problem is, because its taken so long, it would be horrible to have one of your two games in a position where you can't win, therefore kicking you out of the final tournament due to luck, after you came all the way through your pool. Am I wrong in thinking that 4 games shouldn't take a huge amount of extra time for each player? You might have to lay off of some of your other games, but the tournament should take priority anyways.

I like the idea of having the extra games on different planets for some variety though.

If all players are agree, I can change Rules:
6. 1/4 Final: 4 pairs are randomly selected out of 8 Group Stage winners. Each pair plays 4 games (again, switching sides) on Noble Rust and Anubis planet.

7. 1/2 Final: 2 pairs are randomly selected out of 4 1/4 winners. Each pair plays 2 games (again, switching sides) on Anubis and Anubis planets.

8. The Final: 2 winners of the 1/2 Final play 2 games (switching sides) on New Paradise planet.

9. The losers of the 1/2 Final will fight 4 battles on Emerald and Antarcticus planets for the third place.

Ok, so 4 games for 1/4 final, and 2 games for 1/2 final and final?

Ohhh...
My mistake. I meant:

6. 1/4 Final: 4 pairs are randomly selected out of 8 Group Stage winners. Each pair plays 4 games (again, switching sides) on Noble Rust and Anubis planet.

7. 1/2 Final: 2 pairs are randomly selected out of 4 1/4 winners. Each pair plays 4 games (again, switching sides) on Noble Rust and Anubis planets.

8. The Final: 2 winners of the 1/2 Final play 2 games (switching sides) on New Paradise planet.

9. The losers of the 1/2 Final will fight 4 battles on Emerald and Antarcticus planets for the third place.

or

9. The losers of the 1/2 Final will fight 2 games (switching sides) on New Paradise planet.

Sounds good to me - Assuming that I am the Group winner!

It is true that four simultaneous games will not take much longer than two since I would always play all four in one sitting. This would not be the case though for New Paradise where turns can take a seriously long time.

I am patched up and ready to go as soon as the draw can be done!

Sorry for the delay on my games. I've been really busy the last week, both at work and at home, though I never went 5 days...I think it was 3, at most, but I get some odd times on some of my turns. But I could be wrong :-(.

All the same, I've surrendered all but two of my games. I think I have one of the games with smeags, and the other is close. I've written him telling him that I'll be glad to finish them up this evening, that I'll be around a few hours late before work at 4am. If we don't finish, however, I'll be glad to accede both games to him because of my recent tardiness, though I know I HAVE at least one of them ;-).

That said, gratz to Rocklizard and Arkangel--no way I could have beat either of them in any of our games, and that's not just because of "bad positioning" ;-).

Regards,

shags

Smeags surrendered the one game we had, and we're hard at it to finish our last. We fit in a few turns this evening, and we're going to finish it up tomorrow, if this is OK. It's a very interesting match in the endgame ;-).

As I see in replays, Rocklizard destroy more units than Arkangel in their battles, so Rocklizard is winner of Pool 5 (Rule 17.2).

These are pairs for 1/4 Final (all pairs were randomly selected):
Pair 1
mgrosh - Pitor

Pair 2
Enfprcer - NikTheKid

Pair 3
Boomer - maelstrom

Pair 4
MortonHQ - Rocklizard

All battles will be created next week (4 battles for each pair).

I'm patched too.

(PS May be worth emailing others direct - I responded to Nick's email and patched hours before I saw this post.)
