Problem:

Currently the game overs to few statistic informations.

Forces:
F1: Statistic informations are usefull <--> Too much statistic informations are a source of confusion.
F2: The way the statistic is calculated must be known
F3: The way the statistic is visualised must be common

Solution S1:

The statistics must be displayed using charts and tables

Solution S2:
The statistic view must provide informations of the following areas:

A: Cities under control
B: Income per move
C: Income currently available in cities
D: Army
- Unitcount,
- Potential
accumulated hitpoitns,
firepower,
costs of the units
- Loses of unites during the moves

Solution S2.1

The layer informations of the statistic view should be applied as filters. A filter can be selected e.g switched on/off, set transparency etc.

This will help to configure the map the way it is needed.

Solution S2.2

The staistic view should be configured using multiviews. (see "Map inprovements" thread, S2.2)

Solution S2.3

The configuration of a statistic view can be done using a popupmenu like setting styles in wordpad or something. (see "Map inprovements" thread, S2.3)

I think there are about enough stats ingame, but some possible improvements are that it shows how much a unit can still move, and (with right shift for example) which of yourunits can shoot at that field/unit

btw - with esc > statistics you can view how many allies of what income you and your opponent have, and how many of them disclosed, and also how many units of each sort you and your opponent have

I know but this should be a window like the map and should be alltime available during your daily turn doings. So you can use statistics to determine your disclosure decissions right out of the box or see the shift of power during the enemies move by seeing your potential drop imediatly during enemies combat phase.

You know the stats will over a live history about verious aspects. So you can see if the influence has grown rapidly during a discloser phase or during a purchase etc.

It will also make the enemy movement phase more interesting to do a live analysation while the opponent is still moving.

I would also like to check stats while I move around on the planets surface to check the enemies cities etc.

I think it should be a pop-up window that pops up if you click on an icon or press a hotkey, so it doesn't spoil the view of the battle, because if you put in too much stats and a too large map the view of the battle will be too small and chaotic

Well thats what I thought of. It should be like Settlers IV, Civilisation III, Battle Isle II. You know you can open the window, you can close it, you can resize it etc...

Its also the way the map should be handled

it could maybe be useful to show the "fields of battle" on the mini map, and in the statistics, so you can see where there is fighting going on.
also I'd likle to see some detailed endgame statistics (addicted to endgame statistics )

btw- come to the IRC channel
