Post subject:  Regarding the confusion about LAVs

I've seen at least two newcomers complain that the role of the LAVs is confusing, since on the pictures it appears to be a high-speed low-hitpoint scout unit, while in reality it is a slow-moving high-hitpoint blocking unit.

So... this finally gives me an excuse to play around with the Poll Buttons. 8)

What do you think should be done to reduce the confusion?

I suggest beating the players with the "look at the damn stats because the pictures are there to look good and not determine what a unit is used for" whiffle bat while otherwise going with option #1.

I second that.

are you going to beat me too? cuz i also dont like the fact that LAVs stats not fit to their name and looks
i suppose to remake LAVs give them another picture and name them INFANTRY unit with same stats 4-1-1-1.the picture should look like there are four soldiers in armoured spacesuits or cyborgs (very little of course).each soldier represent a hitpoint so when unit take damage on of them disappears.

perhabs in addon there should be REAL LAV unit with stats like 3 hits 1 damage and 4 or 5 speed (like transport)

Not unless you're confused about it.

Why does it matter its not like they are going to make a change to an already established unit like the lav. At least not for free, maybe in the new expansion.
I have participated in the what can we do to make things better posts in the past only to have MA cut out of almost all of the improvements and the other improvements can only be had by buying new software - so what is the point.

You speak as if this is a bad thing. It is standard practice. A company cannot survive by continually supporting one product without being paid for it. And I believe that the Massive Assault team has done Much more in the way of sustaining this product then almost any other game developer.

Most of those that give more "free" support than this are large companies that can affort to have programmers work on updating older software, and they see it as an economic advantage to keep the community alive (Valve, Blizzard, etc). Wargaming.net does not have that luxury, being a smaller company.

i was one of the people that you claim has misunderstood the purpose of the LAV due to it's name and picture,i didn't.

what i was getting at is that i feel that varity is the life blood of a decent game and that games that give you unit that have 1 and one 1 use detract from the game due to the uniformity it forces onto game play.
i felt that the function given to the lav was just to uniform with no room for indviduality, what does it do? it blocks, thats it.
i felt that by a slight tweek of a stat you would expand the posiblities for the game by changing the lav into a blocking unit that can also make lightning strikes into enemy territory and as was pointed out in the thread i'd totally overlooked the possiblity of using a transport to give them this ability.
