This game could have been great but its missing multiplayer on LAN which means basically its usless.... 85% of people who buy a game like this need it to be able to be play on 2 pc's in one home and without that feature the game is pointless. |

peoviding u have a connection to the internet (whihc u obviously do to post this message) u play over a lan the same way as online, with u both sending turns to an online server adn downloading them from it. I believe tho that the expansion phantom renaissance will ahve lan capabilities (don't quote me tho) |

What's wrong with hotseat play? For a turn based game like this where you do turns in order (as opposed to simultaneously), LAN play does not make much sense anyways. And as has been presented before... so you don't have to reveal secret allies and don't have to wait, bring two computers and have a hotseat game running on each. Each of you will always be playing a turn, switching off computers. In this manner you don't even need to worry about ethernet connections. Anyways, MA:PR will have your RTS style gameplay, and will also have your LAN play when it comes out at the end of this year/beginning of next |

I've been playing MA:PR on LAN for several days. It's amazing! I would say it's more interesting than Internet Multiplayer. I was having a really huge fun. So will you, I bet... |

Can someone explain to me the RTS style play of the new expansion. Does that mean, there is no turn based mode anymore ? And is the original MA needed or does stand alone expansion suggest, that its a complete new program. In that case, will there be a discount to MA owners ![]() Regards Michael |

expansion is STANDALONE. It will be a separate programm. In fact it's more like MA2 if you count all the changes. Not sure about discount. i'm not the right person to answer. RTS style gameplay - you'll be linked with your opponent and you'll see all his actions immediately - all move, fire orders as well as rewind and undo operations with some chatting. |

Considering how long it takes me to do a turn sometimes, between 30-60 minutes, I don't think I'll be playing that mode at all. |

It was asked a long time ago to implement this mode. It will be the only playable mode for LAN and it will have a variable timelimit. (in minutes and tens of seconds) |

He meant that if you play by LAN you can only use real-time mode if you play by internet you can choose to use real-time or classic mode however...i think teaching newbs in real-time mode will take too much time even in comparizon with classic mode |

dont have ma yet, but id only need it for lanplay. so: so, if i got it right: right now you cant directly play using a lan. instead you need to connect to the internet, log on a gaming server and play that way, right? so do you need to buy a new MA for each player? and what will it be like once the mentioned add-on is out? |

ma is mainly single player missions with multiplayer on the original maps, not sure if u need 1 cd per machine or not. Man is more multiplayer orientated and is free download, it gives you a few single player scenarions to teach u to play the game. And you can play 1 map (emerald vs the ai or a human as much as u want.) If you want to play other maps tho you have to pay a subscription fee. youc an download man from http://www.massiveassaultnetwork.com The ad-on (if i understand correctly) will be a stand alone game (so u don't need ma/man to play mapr). But it will have pure LAN ability. You can also play ma hotseat. |
