i keep strarting threads on to get refered to threads i've issed on the same lines. My 2 ideas ahve already been put on this thread but I had different ideas for their stats..

1st the AA gun, has a range of 1, it has 1 shot during opponents turn and hits the 1st plane to attack soemthing next to it. So mainly used to help protect missile launcers etc..

2nd the sub has 1 hp, and enough fire to take out a battleship, it can only be seen by destroyers. Sub has a short range so has to slowly move towards it's target. Thinking maybe cost of $3.

But I do agree that part of the appeal of the game is the few kinds of units but the hundreds of ways to use them.

Its nice with many units but i have problem using the ones already in the game, so a choice to use classic gameplay and one with moore units would be a good thing if your planning to add moore units.
I think you could add moore nations to choose beetwen, or have so you could set the color of your unit to your liking, because i find it confusing when i play one game with one nation and another with another nation.

Well thats my thoughts.

About aircrafts and how to deal with them. Also about Turrets and what we need them for;) I think Turrets shoud be re-made to act as SAM pads at the same time as being able to deal small(2) damage to ground units.Such a Pad will be unmoveable, unsrappable and will take 1 hex of space also not being able to be placed closer than 2nd hex from the border. It should have a range of 1(Anti Aircraft of course, normal anti-ground range should stay as it is).Such a protection will counter any attack from air.ONE attack. So if,for example, someone wants to take out that RL hiding in it`s area of protection that player must be ready to sacrifice his first aircraft(though it will deal it`s damage before being shut from the sky)Probably for that purpose it`s HP should be lowered,I`m not sure about that.

I think this will increase attractiveness of turrets releiving them of their fate of "guerilla only" unit(I think majority of players agree that in most other situations other than in neutral contry being invaded they are more or less useless otherwise)

How about single use drones to attack planes. Built in a city, they could be loaded onto a transport(maybe take up 2 spots?) have a range of 3(6move), cost 1. once they are used they are destroyed(kamakazee).
single use but low cost
maybe they could also be used to attack land forces as well(mobile aipower)

just a thought on mobile airbases and fighter planes

Personnaly i realy like each nation having strictly identical units.
I hate to disagree with a dev who developed MA though ;)

Yeah, the lack of nation specific units is the only major turn-off this game seems to have...

I like the short list of units in MA, it keeps the game simple to pick up, but tough to master. Though I would like to see some infantry. The game needs something besides a LAV as a lightweight, inexpensive and somewhat expendable unit. No matter how futuristic the game, I think there's always a place for ground pounders, they are just the utlimate in flexible units.

I was just remembering a unit from game called military madness for the turbo grafix 16. It was a small recon unit that could move then shoot then move again. I think it had a move of 5 and attack of 1. Don't know how you would set it up in MA though.
Maybe:
Recon
Hitpoints:3
Move:4
Attack:1
Range:1
Cost:3 maybe 2

Just a thought

I have to admit I get nervous when people talk about change! Massive Assault is exceedingly well balanced (almost terrifyingly so). Every unit has a use, and there isn't some tedious rock-paper-scissors forumla behind it all, you can use each unit in multiple ways.

The very fact that the two sides are identical is part of the appeal, neither has a unit advantage, a super weapon, a unique unit that means on maps of type X they'll always win, and on Y they'll always lose.

The way the game is now is pretty much perfect :)

Aside from a few AI tweaks (low priority, multiplayer is where it's at) and MORE MAPS (!!!!) I agree wholeheartedly. ;)

Me.

I very much doubt the AI in single player is low priority considering that is where the majority of the gamers play. Reviews which focus overly on multiplayer (say, UT2003) are very annoying because the vasty majority of the people who pick up these games never go online.. yet AI and bots usually warrent little more than one line.

You should make a point to put that in your little "Dating Request" bio there, Icarus.

a thought about AA

Range 1
Damage 0
Movement 1
Armour 2
Cost 2

they can't destroy bombers at all but a bomber can't move past one
and as bomber move linearly that putting it any where creates a cone of protection behind it but with the weak armour put it at the front it's dead

would require a chang to the game engine but should be a fairly simple one
