The Best Game No One Played I am so very fond of the stated set of games. I say this tongue firmy in cheek, but I feel like I've found another in MA. I'll be playing this one for years. In the same line, I'm curious, have any of you played Moonbase Commander? Absolutely brilliant... I'd love to hear of other largely undiscovered gems. Dan |

Oh man, I absolutely loved moonbase commander. Especially playing as Systen 7. Haven't been able to get it to work for awhile though... Something wrong with my internet connection at home. But here at college maybe I could get it working. I'll have to pick up the CD when I visit the folks this weekend and boot it up, if I can find somebody to test it with *hint hint* |

Hey Icarus, Hint taken. :D I never played a human, but I'm sure it's a good time. Let's do it! For that matter, same is true for MA. Never played a human and only just starting the scenarios. I'm making a foray into strategy titles and having a ball, but just a little green. Dan ...now what the h*ll is a pincher maneuver? |

A pincher (actually, I think its sometimes called 'pincer' as well) is simply a tactical manuevre where you hit the enemy from two different sides (heck, more sides than that if you wnt). This will cause the enemy to redistribute his forces on the front lines to compensate for all fronts that you've opened, thus making it easier to punch through any one line. Oh, and about MoonBase commander: Can't make any promises that it ill actually work online between us. The netcode in that game was always a bit lacking :/ But we can still give it a shot ![]() I'll throw you a private message when I get things set up on my end. |

Never played MoonBase against a human?!? The insanity! Follow the link in my sig for the latest patch and Console (random map generator and multiplayer game starter). Though it doesn't sound like you guys have played the original maps to death yet anyway ![]() |

Hey hey ![]() I'm an absolute nut for simple things that give rise to complexity ![]() Another game that I think is freakin amazing and pretty undiscovered is Denki Blocks on the GBA. It's a crazy little puzzle game. Simple idea and simple puzzles at first, but as the game teaches you more and more it gets more and more complicated. My favorite puzzle game, by far. |

Looking forward to Denki Blocks, Covak. Thanks for the tip. If we're moving the topic to puzzle games, I'd have to throw in Heaven and Earth, Pit Droids and Drod. All winners for me. Now if you want to talk logic, head over to http://www.kaser.com/ and check out Sherlock (for a beginner to medium challenge) and Latin Squares (for a medium to brain splitting trial) Everett Kaser is *da man* in logic games. Been playing Sherlock for literally a decade now. The three of us will have to get an evening of MA and MBC together. Is there a fourth out there? |

Ouu, Sherlock was cool and Latin Squares is sweet. I'm gonna have to struggle through all the puzzles in the shareware Latin Squares ![]() http://www.albartus.com/motas/ - there's a cool flash puzzle game. |

Bah, Myst was the best puzzle game ever... You can keep your multi-coloured blocks. Atrus will suffice for me! |

Atrus? I'm all busy running around for some girl named Yeesha right now ![]() |

Man. That has to be one of the most maligned games of all time. I am a hardcore gamer and adored Myst. But (and I swear I'm not being cocky here) it was just too easy. Riven I thought was brilliant. Exile was far too short. Almost completely lost the soul of the puzzles. You're in doubt??? Toggle and move on. And the Organic world (don't remember the name) was horribly designed. "There's a path there?!? In that black splotch?!?" I just found myself not caring at the end. As for URU, I played the demo and found the control scheme to be so visible and seamed that I couldn't even get to enjoying the game. If I'd wanted tomb raider... Tell me that the actual game ironed out the kludgy controls and I'll try it. Hey Covak...give Occam's Quilt a shot too. I little more laid back than latin squares, but still fun. |

I know what you mean about that organic age. Bleh. But I really enjoyed the rest of Exile. Was no Riven, but still great (if too short). I don't think the controls in the full Uru are any better. I never played the demo, but I was a beta tester and the controls have simply been bad the whole time. Some of the ages are a bit weak too. Overall though, I think Uru is amazing ![]() |

Just tried a round of Occam's Quilt. I have no idea what the heck was going on, but it looks neat ![]() ![]() |

I may have to bite the bullet and get Uru. I just dig puzzles so much, maybe I can forgive the controls. I know EXACTLY what you mean about music and logic games. I went through about a two month period when I first got Sherlock where I listened to Tom Petty's greatest over and over. Not even the biggest fan, but it clicked. Now I can't start up Sherlock without hearing in the back of my mind..."Well she was an American girl..." I forgot to mention that I headed off to your MBC link. You're a map making fool. Pulled then down and enjoying every minute. Good stuff. |

Hehe. I've had the happen before too, where I got a new CD and a new game at the same time and played 'em together. One always reminded me vividly of the other. I'm glad the MBC site still serves some purpose, considering how often there's anything to update about ![]() |
