As a tribute to the dread God Finagle and his prophet Murphy, here are some of Murphy’s Laws which can apply to MA.

These apply to any game LOL;

Anything you do can get you killed, including nothing. ( Never be Timid, this is especially important playing Tiger, Morton, Pitor, Vadim, ( insert name of Marshal/general who whupped you here )

Whenever you lose contact with the enemy, look behind you. ( see above…)

If your attack is going really well, it's an ambush. ( see above…)

The enemy diversion you're ignoring is their main attack. ( see above…)

The enemy invariably attacks on two occasions: when they're ready. & when you're not. ( see above…)

No plan ever survives initial contact.

There is no such thing as a perfect plan.

If the enemy is within range, so are you. ( Those fresh Bot/RLs are ordinance magnets )

If you are short of everything but the enemy, you are in the combat zone. ( welcome to MA multi-player LOL )

When in doubt, empty your magazine. ( Maximize your ‘Killing Potential” )

A wounded enemy is unpredictable. ( see above…)

When you have secured the area, make sure the enemy knows it too. ( If the window says “ Probable Enemy Ally”, don’t leave it unguarded )

Other quotes;

An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less until he knows absolutely everything about nothing. ( n00bie strategists “ Why isn’t this game like …… )

Tell a man there are 300 billion stars in the universe and he'll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint on it and he'll have to touch to be sure. ( Never deploy important units, eg. RLs, within range of the enemy )

All great discoveries are made by mistake. ( Your last available unit will always be one hex short of destroying the most important enemy unit, eg Bots/carriers/BBs with one hit point )

The one item you need is always in short supply. ( see above…)

If at first you don't succeed, call in an airstrike. ( see above )

The important things are always simple; the simple are always hard. ( Your Bombers will always be at least 7 hexes from where you need them, see above. Also, the city that needs Bombers will always be at least 13 hexes away )

Make it too tough for the enemy to get in, and you won't be able to get out. ( too many LAVs… no Tanks or Transports….)

If you take more than your fair share of objectives, you will get more than your fair share of objectives to take. ( Never attack that Neutral country to your rear unless you need the Recruitment money )

Fortify your front; you'll get your rear shot up. ( The “ Neutral “ country you ignore will be the enemies Secret Ally, see above…)

Anyone have some more?

Hm... very interesting...

Strangely enough, we have never heard of or encountered any of these laws while developing Massive Assault ...
:wink:

Heh. So true, so true.. ;)

I haven't played through a full mp game yet, 'cause the last one I tried broke on me.. :( (I reported it, as requested, Devs! :) )

But I've played a lot of MP wargames, and those hold very true for those, and I can SEE (as this game the units are perfectly balanced, unlike most other wargames where one side had better units, because of historical accuracy) that those things would be exemplified here... :)

Tiger just challenged me.. I hope they go easy, I'm gunna get thrashed.. ;) Heh! I suppose that's an "initiation rite" or something, eh? ;)

Me.

Just call it a humbling... once you've finally mastered the AI, you go online expecting to be good, and then you find that that killer AI isn't so bad anymore.... I went through the same thing myself (first defeat by Tiger) :)

Considering that I've read the forums here for a while before bothering to post or play, I'd like to make a couple comments... ;)

1. I expect a thorough beating relatively regularly against humans for a while. I got beaten pretty bad by the AI when I first started playing, got to the point where I could beat the AI pretty consistantly, decided to take on humans. Expect it to go about the same (i.e. Get beaten pretty regularly for a while, then get better until I can beat them consistantly)...

2. In the single player, I took all the things people mentioned here about transports to test, and you will SMITE the AI if you use the transports they give you in the campaign scenarios effectively, so transports are pretty high on my target list... ;) (Old addage: If you know what beats YOU, it will generally hurt others, too)..

:)

All in all, I look forward to it, heh. Can't learn without losing..

Me.
