But I think you will struggle to find enough people who are willing to make a donation to Rocklizard . . . I know him personally and I assure you playing for money will just make it more likely that he will win.

I repeat it once again - there are always 2nd & 3rd prize places...

Come on! Who is going to pay money to enter a tournament thinking, "Wow! If I really play my best maybe I can be runner-up!" There has to be some hope... :cry:

We can play not only Tournament - just also basic games...

I get it, but when you pilot something of this nature, you need to start small. If people don't bite on the individual games, there's no way the effort to organize a tournament is going to work.

Why not? There is always a hope. Why in this case so many Players are playing in Tournaments?
I think there is nothing special at least to spend extra $10.00 & we'll be have one more new Tournament.
:wink:

Well,I don't agree with the idea because 2 simply reason:
1-I'm not NB in this game,and still I'm not a good player!It's like that,some ppl,has the talent for it,me not!But I'm still playing and I'm playing for a fun.
Drakon,I'm 35 years old,and believe me,that it's not a problem to pay 100 USD if I want to participate,but do You think,that vue how I'm playing,I will put even 10 USD in something what I'm sure, that I can't win???
How many of You can be sure against Tiger,or Rocklizzard,or other ppl?Anyway,may be 10 ppl in MAN can be compatitive!
or will we ask somebody,with a very little experience to pay?...and if he will pay,but he will even no have a chance to win(because he will see this after his first game with You....LOL)do You think,that he would like to play anymore in MAN?I don't think so...He will think,that he was cheated,and the reality it's that he was...
I don't think so ,that it's a good idea!
2-If I think to trow away 100 USD,it's sure that I will choose to go to the Casino,because I will have more chance there,than to win against one of You..... :lol:

i wouldn't enter a tourney either i'd only pay to play something where i felt i had a chance of winning. And the only way i'd become a runner up in a tournye was if some fo the top ppl dropped out. I feel the individualg mes is a much better idea as u can choose ur opponents (and they can accept/reject u)

Ya know, I don't care about playing for money, or not for money. If one chooses it, for whatever reason, so be it. For me, to do a thing to the best of your ability and to constantly seek to improve for the self-satisfaction that it brings, is sufficient for me. Others need different "hooks", and their motives are their own, and speculating on that is pointless.

What I do find intriguing is the opposition to a proposition that has no effect anyone that isn't an explicitly willing participant? That's part of why I oppose money games with clans, because peer pressure and the joy of participation can be skewed in a way that is not to everyone's best interest.

But, maybe I am missing something here? If so, please, broaden my perspective. I would welcome a healthy dialogue.

$10 maybe, but you need to spread the prizes out alot further then 1st-3rd. You need to get lots of people in the tournament, lets say 100, then you have prizes say down to 30th place.

1 = 200
2 = 150
3 = 100
4 = 80
5 = 70
6 = 60
7 = 50
8 = 40
9 = 30
10 = 20
11 thru 30 = 10

Something with this type of structure gives just about everyone a fair chance at breaking even and still gives those top placer something to shoot for.

Very good idea but it'll be very hard to find so many Players...
Do you have other variants?

Well, i've read carefully this forum, and it seems to me that there is a good chance to have a relative significant number of players interested in playing a prize money tournament. I agree with ChrisCraven format, but as we need to solve the problem of not achiving 100 players, my suggestion is:

Minimum nunber of players: 20

Entrance: 10Ђ

Total money gathered divided in:

1 - 30%
2 - 20%
3 - 10%
4 - 9%
5 - 8%
6 - 7%
7 - 6%

This is a total 90% of the prize, the remaining 10% divided for the rest of the players, giving 10Ђ each.
This means that if we have:
-20 players, 7 win money and 2 would get their money back (9 in 20 wouldn't lose)
-50 players, 7 win money and 5 would get their money back (12 in 50 wouldn't lose)
-100 players, 7 win money and 10 would get their money back (17 in 100 wouldn't lose)

and so on...

Real example:

35 players = 350Ђ

Prize distribution:

1- 105Ђ
2- 70Ђ
3- 35Ђ
4- 31,5Ђ
5- 28Ђ
6- 24,5Ђ
7- 21Ђ
8- 10Ђ
9- 10Ђ
10- 10Ђ

The remainings (obviusly allways less than 10Ђ, in this case 5Ђ) would revert allways to the winner.

Like this we have the problem solved, with any entrance fee, from 20 to ... players and a large number of players included in the prize.

Any thoughts?

I don't mind. Now we need the list of Players wishing to play new one.
Let's start already!!!

well are the devs gonna support this? not muhc we can do until they respond.

Of course this is a delicate matter for Devs to deal with, because i'm certain that that games envolving prize money are under different laws than others. This was not meant to be a game to be played for money...
I guess that this kind of playing mode must be "unofficial", and that of course will drag the natural problems of money changing hands in the net. :roll:

I don't see any point in arguing against this. If some people would like to play for money, then good for them. They should be able to.

It's not for me, but if others like the idea then I would think it would be a good thing for them.

For play for money (not for fun only) the game at least must have serios cheating defence. Now, it's not. Therefore at least the game need new MAN-patch for fixing current "hole" and only after that we may to plan game for money. Will be devs make new patch? It's the great question.

Going back to this older topic, I've been informed that MAN 2 will have fixed whatever cheating loophole/bug is mentioned here, and was just wondering if the devs have considered adding a money play option or hosting money tournaments?
