Here are details on the draw for the main tournament.

If you have any questions let me know!

It is imperative that you keep in contact with your opponent each round and arrange mutually convenient times to play multiple turns - otherwise this tournament will take a year to complete.

If you consistently take longer than about 24 hours to play turns you can be ejected from the tournament.

Good luck to all.

Cheers, MW.

DEKO Draw

There are 82 entrants.

After any match the winner assumes the higher seeding, and the loser assumes the lower seeding.

Round 1 will reduce the field to 32 undefeated players. And 32 once defeated players.

The top 14 seeds will be given a bye into Round 2 as undefeated players. The remainder will play in 3-way or 4-way matches as follows.

3-way Matches
15 v 50 v 79
16 v 49 v 80
17 v 48 v 81
18 v 47 v 82

4-way Matches
19 v 46 v 51 v 78 26 v 39 v 58 v 71
20 v 45 v 52 v 77 27 v 38 v 59 v 70
21 v 44 v 53 v 76 28 v 37 v 60 v 69
22 v 43 v 54 v 75 29 v 36 v 61 v 68
23 v 42 v 55 v 74 30 v 35 v 62 v 67
24 v 41 v 56 v 73 31 v 34 v 63 v 66
25 v 40 v 57 v 72 32 v 33 v 64 v 65

In the 3-way matches, players will play a “match” (one battle as PL and one as FNU) against each of the other players on the planet Antarcticus. The winner of the match will be the player who wins both of these “matches” on the least turns rule. Where all 3 players win one match each, the tie break(s) will be:
i) Number of battles won
ii) Total turns across all battles
iii) Net units destroyed across all battles
iv) Surviving units across all battles
v) Lot
The winner of the 3-way match enters round two as an undefeated player. The 2nd placed player joins round two as a once defeated player. The 3rd placed player drops into the consolation knockout.

The 4-way matches will be played as two rounds. In round 1a the top player (on seeding) in the 4-way match plays the bottom player and the middle two play each other all battles on Butterfly. In round 1b battles are on Brimstone, the winners of the round 1a matches play each other (winner to undefeated pool, loser to once defeated pool) and the losers play (winner to once defeated pool, loser to consolation knockout).

In future rounds players in the undefeated pool play each other with losers dropping into the once-defeated pool. Players in the once-defeated pool play each other with losers dropping into the consolation events. Players cannot play each other a second time before the semi-final stage.

Round 2
Undefeated pool: 32 players, Once-defeated pool: 32 players
Battles on Bizarria

Round 3
Undefeated pool: 16 players, Once-defeated pool: 32 players
Battles on Emerald

Round 4
Undefeated pool: 8 players, Once-defeated pool: 24 players
Battles on Crateus

Round 5
Undefeated pool: 4 players, Once-defeated pool 16 players
Battles on Noble Rust

Round 6
Undefeated pool: 2 players, Once-defeated pool 10 players
Battles on Anubis

The one player who remains undefeated receives a bye into the semi-final.

Quarter-Final
The 6 once-defeated players play battles on New Paradise

Semi-Final
The undefeated player chooses his opponent and has the right to reject one starting layout (before making his opening declaration). If he does not use this right in the semi-final then it will carry on to the Final. Battles will be on Wasserland.

Final
Battles will be on Twin Islands.

Please surrender if it becomes clear you are going to lose both battles in the match or if you are going to lose one battle in far fewer turns than you are going to win the other battle.

It is hoped that Round 1a matches will be completed within 2 weeks.

in the rules it says a max of 7 days per turn is allowed but you are expected to take 2 days per turn on average, but above u ahve said 24hours per turn max. What's going on??

The limit is still 7 days - if you go away for a period or can't play for some other reason - let your opponent know and no-one should have a problem.

Try and arrange a mutually convenient time with your opponent to play turns - so that you are both on-line at once and can play several turns.

The warning is there for people who consistently take a long period of time to play their turns. Playing once every three days for example leads to games lasting over a month even on small maps.

The objective is to arrange a convenient time to play several turns the average time per turn should be around 24 hours - but this can be made up of 3 turns one day and then none for 3 days.

Hi!!, I'm Spanish so I don't understand well some explanations about the tournament.

1) What "give a bye" or "receive a bye" means? I assume that this means to say good bye to the player so that player is out of the tournament.

2) Why players in round 1 play more matches than players in round 1a?
Is the initial seed based on rank or score of the players?
For example, I play two matches but in round 1 people play 4 matches. Why?

3) What are the numbers in "3-way Matches" and "4-way Matches"? the seed numbers? Then none player will be eliminated after round 1?
Let's consider my case: I have a seed of 59 and I play against Donut that have 38. So what happens If I win and what if I lose?

I hope you understand my english!!

My best regards.

Nharkor.

I can answer this one: a player who gets a "bye" goes to the next round for free without playing anybody.

Round 1 players are playing 3 way battles, while Round 1a players are playing in a pool of 4 players. With 4, is better to have two 1v1 games, and the winners of those playing in round 1b to determine who goes on.

So Round 1a players will still have 4 matches, they play 2 now and 2 again (in round 1b) when the results of Round 1a are concluded.

Correct

Nharkor wrote:

Players will be eliminated in these games. For the 3-ways, the player that wins the most is considered undefeated for later rounds. The player with the second most is considered to have one loss, with the last player considered to have two losses and thus out of the tourney.

For the 4 ways, the player that wins both 1a and 1b will have no losses, a player that wins 1a but loses 1b will have 1 loss, the player that loses 1a but wins 1b will have 1 loss, and the player that loses both will be eliminated.

The purpose of the 3 and 4-way games is to bring the number of undefeated and once-defeated players to a number that can fit into a standard DEKO tournament for later rounds.

To pass to second round you (as 4-way matches player) must play round 1a (1 match -- 2 battles) and round 1b (another match -- 2 battles). So the first round for you is divided in two subrounds and the total are 4 battles.
And 3-way matches players must play only round 1 but 2 matches (4 battles).
The match is two battles with the same opponent but for different sides (one as PL and one as FNU).
Nharkor wrote:

Yes, they are player's seed numbers.
Nharkor wrote:

Incorrect! For 3-way match 2 best players pass to second round and the worst player is eliminated from main tournament and enters The Consolation Knockout (a parallel tournament for losers).
For 4-way match 3 best players pass to second round and the worst player is eliminated and enters The Consolation Knockout.
Nharkor wrote:

Each player has 2 lives. If you lose both round 1a and round 1b (all 2 your lives), then you will be eliminated.
Else you will pass to second round.
If you win both round 1a and round 1b, you will be undefeated player (you will save your 2 lives). If you lose in one of rounds, you will be once-defeated player (one life remains).
Note that to lose life, you need to lose a match, not a battle.
