Actually Laser Squad Nemesis is based on Laser Squad (duh...). It was released 3 years earlier than RoboSport (1988 vs. 1991).

What do you mean by similar? Non-random combat? Sci-fi setting? pbem gameplay? There is Laser Squad Nemesis, a reworking of an old game called Robosport. It is turn based (with orders excuted for both sides simultaneously) and focusses on sci-fi man-to-alien combat. It has some form of pbem function. If you just want a turn based strategy game I recommend Age of Wonders Shadow Magic. It has a fantasy theme and lots of user made maps for both single player and multiplayer. This game has a very active pbem community. There is a demo available. I was just reading about World at War, a new WWII turn based grand strategy game. It sounds good if you like games based on old table top war games. This one also has pbem gameplay. |
