LAN game work only in local networks. Sorry, but with your own IP you won't play it.

Let's put it this way. If you do not know what local network or LAN is, then you do not have one and hence you will not be able to play in it. :)

But I will clear it little bit anyways. For example, if you have more than one computer at home, they might be connected to each other and form network, LAN (local area network). There is many alternative methods to do this, and which I'm not going to explain now. :)

In your school, or maybe at your work, is most likely local area network between all the computers.

Does the LAN feature work via IP address, and you type in the IP address of the other computer? Or is it broadcast/mulitcast based and you the computer finds the other computers on the same subnet?

Do you need multiple copies of the game for LAN use?
