How hard would it be to replay a game with the same country allotments?
That would be a very excellent way to play for revenge or evenning out the playing field. for example:How would I fare playing the other side w/the same allotments?....Several combinations would arise from this situation.
It could be a source of long strings of same-map battles between opponents.
This would be a good thing.

In this case we can't use main idea of MA - secret allies.

The Secret Allies is a key part of MAN, yet being able to replay same-set scenarios would be very desirable and I am betting that it would be a much-used feature and would add a whole new level of play to MAN.

It would give the opportunity to play a wholly different approach, similar to chess, but of course still greatly variated.
How difficult would it be to set up a game option for this?

Great idea! I know of a few games I would like to play again. And sometimes the layout is very balanced, making it an above average fun game since then it's all about making the right decisions and not about being lucky with SA placements. Secret allies being known is the whole point and not a problem if this were possible.

But please do not stall release because of any such changes :P ...the months go by...

Of course, this idea is not new and I also look forward to the Release.
A Startup Option in which Red Player chooses one country, then Green picks one, and so on until number of allies is met would be ideal. This is identical to a startup of Risk.
This would enable players (a)to agree to "replay a scenario" or (b)simply choose the allied countries (and would remove the element of bad luck).
I hope the recommendation will be seriously considered and implemented.
I would glady pay for the extra startup option.
MAN is the only game I play, and I do so almost every morning and evening.
"Too many" good options are welcome by me. Many popular games have variable options which increase interest and playtime. :)

"Choosing" your secret allies - one at a time - is a great Idea.

A bit time consuming for larger maps - but ok if you are both on line at the same time...... Would take a week or more otherwise just to start the game - so it should definatley only be an option

Still - asesome Idea. Removes most of the luck the game has....

Maybe the green should pick first - as the red gets to move first?????

I would hope that if this option is implemented, that most people would still play with the Secret Allies, as that concept is what truly separates MA from other strategy games.

Without truly secret allies, you remove ambushes, traps, and general mischief.

If there were going to be a multiplayer scenario mode though, I'd definately like that, where you have a bunch of preset 2 player scenarios that have been fully tested for balance. Better yet if people could create their own scenarios, but I know thats a long way off.
