Hi

I'm currently playing the Mac version of MA (not MAN). And I have to say it is one of the most enjoyable games I've played recently.

*However* - looking at the MA website I see that there are scenarios, a map and a campaign which are available - but there are in *.exe format, which does not run on Mac's.

Does anyone know any way to get the maps/ scenarios etc to work with my game (note that the Mac version comes with Emerald, which appears to be a download for the PC version?).

Alternatively, would anyone be willing to send me the files (by email - but wait a couple of weeks because I haven't got broadband *yet*). I'm not asking for any of the MAN stuff which you would need to pay for, just the free downloads the PC MA players have access to...

I'm assuming that just pasting the files into my MA directory would work, is this correct (fellow Mac users especially [showing package contents to get to a directory?])

Cheers for any help,
Calvin

Hi

I got the scenarios working fine - except one problem. I've just completed the Amphibious Assault scenario, and got *0 points*. Ok, I lost a few units, but I wasn't that bad???!!!

Help! Have I done something wrong...?

These additional scenarios are not ranked, so you will recieve no points for completing, just fun :-)

Hi,

I'm a Mac user also. Thanks for this stuff! :-)

I am having a problem with the new map "Brimstone," which was part of the download, though. Tonight I sent a challenge to another user on this map, he accepted, but when I try to play my turn #0, MA "unexpectedly quits" after the bar finishes loading, just before play should begin. Then I tried to play a world war on Brimstone in single player mode...it crashed in the same manner. Any ideas?

Also, just curious: Will there be any possible way for Mac users to play on the MAN maps in the future? Of course, this could be for a reasonable fee, as with the PC version...but I'd be *really* impressed if it was a Mac-only freebie, just as a perk for those of us who had to wait long and hard for MA to come to our computers. ;-)

Brimstone uses new map format. It seems that MAc version was ported from an older version of MA that doesn't support new map's format.

Hmmm, yes, earlier I noticed the problem that there is no "finish" option on the Mac for those games where an opponent never send a turn back and time has expired. Regarding this matter, a representative from wargaming.net informed me that, indeed, the Mac version of MA is based off of an older PC version where this button did not exist. (Why would a much later Mac port ever be released without being up to date with the PC version? I'm not sure...) So apparently this older version base also means we cannot play on Brimstone until a patch is released.

I'm still holding out hope that VP are working hard on a patch to address the multiple more important technical problems with the Mac version and are planning on supporting this game...haven't heard much lately though.

I'm planning on recommending MA to all my friends in the strategy gaming world just as soon as I can determine that at least the serious bugs are going to be fixed (speed problems, recruitment bug, etc). And having a "current" version of MA and being able to play the same maps the PC users get for free would be nice too.

Uh oh...

Because of the incompatability of the map with the Mac, I have just removed it...

But now my game crashes when I click on 'single player' after loading it. Help! Are there some more files I should delete? I can't reinstall because I'm currently in a hotel without the CD - the only thing keeping me sane (I've been here for over a week on business!) is my MA games that are running - help!!!

Try to install this map back again. It should return you to the state when MA works except for this new map. It would be a solution until you will be able to reinstall MA.

Yeah, I've put that back in the maps file and it works fine.

I think it was crashing because I had 'World War -> Brimstone' selected when I opened up the single player menu. I selected another map, and deleted the map again - didn't crash this time when clicking single player, but Brimstone still appeared in the map list. Clicking on that crashed the game - so I put the map back, which is where it is staying until I get back to the CD...!

Should I avoid any of the new scenarios, or are they all based on non-Brimstone maps... (which I guess they are looking at the order they appear on the download list?)

Cheers

Vano or other wargaming.net representative,

Could someone please end games #46485 and #46486 as a draw/void? This is because in these games I challenged someone to play on the map Brimstone. Assuming there will be no patch in the next 6 days to address the map file type issue for Mac users, I won't be able to take any turns in this game before time expires.

Thanks.

To delete Brimstone map you should delete 3 files:
1) maps/islands8.dat
2) scenarios/NET/islands8.scn
3) data/GameDataMap008.dat

I have forwarded request for deleting games to support manager.

Fabulous, thanks...

I'd forgotten to delete 2 (scenarios/NET/islands8.scn), which was causing it to be left on the list.

All gone now :)
