Hi!
I installed a pteroshield in my capital, but enemy transport aircraft was able to land. Game 120564 -- MAN2 tournament game, still in progress!

In the MAN2 there is not transport aircraft, only Bombers. If you meant Transport Helicopter, then this unit can't fly from or under Anti-aircraft's field, but it is possible to unload unit from Transport Helicopter in the hex under Anti-aircraft's field.

That is true, but it is a painfull discovery... In my opinion a mistake as a shield is supposed to protect the area against all kind of air units...

this topic was covered pretty well in one of the other threads--the shield protects you from attack from a bomber or attack coptor and keeps any coptors from landing in the protected area--it does not and never has protected you from ground units--think of it as an umbrella--it keeps bombs from raining down but it does not keep ground units out from under it. If it has the protection that you want it would be the same as saying that a ground transport can not come up to a unprotected hex and unload its units.

The AA unit needs to be sold with a warning label stating that "This thing doesn't work as well as you would have hoped!"

I guess that would depend on what you had hoped it would do  Every one that i have ever purchased has done exactly what i wanted it to do. In the right situation, a very worthwile addition to your units.

I once purchased a protoshield with 5 Lavs for a Guerilla Purchase - surrounded the capital, destroyed the unit in the capital that round, and then detroyed 3 bombers in the next round - turned the game upside down. Opponent surrendered next round.

I have also been caught out a few times with a 3 bomber city becoming useless beacuse some sneeky so and so (Neoff) landed a protoshield (via a naval transport) right next to it - again - earth shattering realisation.

These usints are specialist that can turn a game on its end. Use them wisely for they can end up just sitting idle while the bombers move on to their next city.

Better to take a chance on them just sitting around then to not use them at all--I seem to remember playing a certain player from "down under" (in his early days) that advance wave after wave of his units into my bombers killing zone untill he no longer had any waves to advance

I remember that game well.

I think I was up by about 20% - then you clawed back turn after turn while I churned units on hamburger hill.... thinkint back - a shield would have been handy.

I think I have learded my lessons - now I just make new mistakes :)

I do like to move my planes around tho - make the enemy buy lots of petroshields (which can't keep up with the planes).

Ah, your memory fades  Just watched the whole 35 move replay--probably one of the best games i have played--you were up a max of 8% but at one time you did out number my forces almost 400 to 200--if only you still played in that wild west shoot first think 2nd manner!! Have tried to attack the replay for those interested in seeing a, IMO, a really great game!
