MA is a one off cost, while MAN is subscription based. The MAN trial lets you play the map Emerald online as long as you like, though you are restricted in the rank you can reach.

It`s yes AND no.

At least I can`t call the possibility of playing only 1 map "playing"...trying is better word.Especially because,imho,Emerald is the most stupid map in the whole MA(after bizzaria of course).There is practically no strategy involved on it.Only tactic skills and general disclosure decisions.

there are 2 versions of this game. MAssive Assault which comes ona cd and u get lots of single player scenarios/campains as well as being able to play the orignal maps online.

Massive Assault Network is more multiplayer based with there being only a couple of single player scenarios to get u used to the game, but multiplayer has addition features, more maps (with a new map every month) But MAN is downlaodable, u can play Emerald (a basic land map) as much as u want but to play other maps u need to pay a subscription fee. So downlaod man try it out then see waht u think

If you download it, you do not have to pay.

If you download it and decide that you want to play a map other than Emerald, then you have to pay.

Seem that a lot of MAN playing at net.
But seldom got MA playing on net.
Both is same engine, it suppose able to play with each other.

You don't see a lot of MA players online because MA doesn't have the chat room, so they wouldn't show up no matter how many there are. And yes, unless it's Crateus or Twin Islands, MA can play against MAN.
