Yeah I'm dumb and just skimmed the description, and so I used a combat platform with a heavy bot, and seeing the 9 above it figured cool, no worries about sending it in. Apparently though its still based off of the combat platforms hitpoints, so be very wary of using with anything other than missile batteries, cause you're actually stealing hits. (I mean granted you can still just hope em off, but then I always feel like I should've bought a transport).

and does anyone else like subs? I find myself using them more than I should just because they're coool. I also like the speed/cost ratio, it allows me to get firepower somewhere in a nice timely fashion. I've been buying them instead of amphibians against the AI, which I know is just going to ruin me when I fight humans.

of course primary idea of platforms is using them with rocket launchers
however you can place anything on them in case you need for example to move robot over narrow channel.just dont leave robot standing on platform under attack.also imagine - you stand on platform and platform gets destroyed...will you survive?
subs are extremely useful when catching transports..and with range of 2 they are better than amphibians in any cases exempt when you need to load something on transport and send far away

Use battle platforms with heavy bots or mortars for moving them across forests or deserts but don't forget to unload it from battle platform.Battle platforms can be used to transport amfibias through the forests.Units can
shoot from battle platforms so mortar and heavy bot standing near battle platform can reach enemy in 6 or 7 hex through forest or desert.
If you place heavy bot with 1 HP on BP it will have 3 HP .

I havn't been using all this stuff often but i think i will learn how to use it affective some time.

Don't always take the bot off the platform, only do so if:

a) The enemy can destroy the platform

b) You'd rather the bot lost HP than the platform.

I can see some rather interesting, niche uses for it.

You are right.Bot should be taken from the platform only if enemy can destroy the platform.

I have used the plattform a bit, but with mixed results. Fact is, human opponents tend to kill my rocket launchers because even if the plattform is there the RL is a much more attractive target (unless it's a nice 3-hitpoint plattform with anything huge and expensive on it...).

I have, however, obtaind good results by sending the plattform loaded so that it lands on the other side of the land if at all possible, (in one fell swoop). Trips that last more than one turn are basically suicide if the enemy is not already routed...

AND, like with transports - but much more here, because you're taking only One unit per plattform - you need several of them arriving at the same time to be effective. Very expensive, can't afford it that often.

(I did not try to load one with Celine Dion...Gotta try that... Enemy looses concentration, forgets to fire... Hmmm....)
